Building Energy Rating

A Building Energy Rating is a system that measures all aspects of a dwelling in order to measure the Energy performance of that dwelling.

This BER service can only be carried out by a qualified & Sustainable Energy Ireland registered person.

A building is given a rating of A - G,' A' being the most efficient and 'G' being the least.

     
 

 

It is law for any person letting a dwelling to have a BER Certificate of that dwelling and to inform any potential tenant of that Rating.

It is law for any person selling a dwelling to have a BER Certificate of that dwelling and to inform any potential Purchaser of that Rating.

A BER Certificate is not just for land lords and vendors, it is for any home owner interested in improving their home as the BER is accompanied by an advisory report. This report gives advice on lowering your energy bills, and achieving a better Building Energy Rating.

To-date there have been more than 209,607 Domestic BER Certificates registered with Sustainable Energy Ireland.-April '12
